We’re currently hiring for two positions! Apply through Indeed.com (please don’t send via email).

Branding Designer

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design, Web Design, or similar with 2-3 years post-grad experience. Must be formally trained in graphic design and excel in typography, illustration, and design thinking.
  • Must have a passion for branding and creating high-quality design.
  • Candidate must be a forward-thinker and problem solver and approach the project from a “how can I make this the absolute best design for the client” perspective.
  • Must have a modern, upbeat, and colorful design style. Many of our clients are women, therefore the design style leans more to that aesthetic (we don’t do much black and white, edgy type design).
  • Must be well-versed in the Adobe Suite, particularly with Illustrator.
  • Candidate will ideally be familiar with accessibility and the WCAG 2.0 Guidelines, as it relates to color contrast. Not a must, but helpful to know ahead of time.
  • Must be extremely detail focused and be committed to pixel perfect design and execution.
  • Candidate will act as lead branding designer and take initiative.
  • This position will also not create the website layout, although I am open to making this a full-time position for the right candidate who can do both.
  • Priority given to someone who is passionate about food & design! Our clients are mainly food bloggers, so having a base understanding of cooking and baking is helpful to better understand their needs.
  • Must be team-focused and be willing to adapt based on feedback and design restrictions that are presented to you.

Must possess these core values:

  • Originality: I can’t stress this enough. Creating original artwork is something I hold at the utmost importance. With our clientele being online (with millions of pageviews!) there’s no room for error when it comes to originality.
  • Deadline-Obsessed: Another non-negotiable here at MRD is meeting deadlines 100% of the time. This is a major reason clients come to us (via referrals!) and upholding their trust in us throughout the entire process relies on meeting timelines. To meet these, we work ahead and communicate well ahead of time if something may be taking longer than expected.
  • Strive for Excellence: There are many times designing a project when things look decent and could be “good enough” that the client would probably like it. But that’s not what we’re here to do. When we finish a project, I want you to feel like that was the best job you could do with that particular client. MRD is known for those extra touches, that make a site feel polished and unique.
  • Problem Solver: Our clients depend on us to give them our professional advice. It is our job to take their feedback and present alternative options ; while still upholding our personal and design standards. When a client ask for a change, it is our job to find a solution.

Position:
Position is a fully remote, Independent Contractor position (although if from Nashville, would love to set up 1 day per week to meet). For the right fit, you would have 2 projects/month. Projects will paid on an agreed project fee (not hourly). Must be willing to sign IC agreement form, which includes a non-disclosure.

To apply, submit the following via Indeed HERE:
1) Your portfolio or examples of design work
2) Your resume & a short cover letter or description as to why you would be the perfect person for the job.
3) Your availability per month (list # of hours per week & per month you could commit to this position).4) Your favorite food (we love food around here).

Candidates must submit all items above to be considered.

  • Must have a passion for web design and the idea of translating branding into a beautiful, pixel-perfect website.
  • Must have a knack for modern, upbeat, and colorful design. Many of our clients are women, therefore the design style leans more to that aesthetic (we don’t do much black and white, edgy type design).
  • Must be well-versed in Adobe XD and have experience creating UX libraries. Candidate must be a forward-thinker and problem solver and approach the project from a “how can I make this the easiest possible for the user” perspective.
  • Ideal candidate will be familiar with accessibility and the WCAG 2.0 Guidelines.

  • Candidate will act as lead designer and take initiative. The goal with creating this block system is to ultimately decrease design and development time by creating an organized system of UX elements.
  • You will not be coding/developing these mocks, as this will be handled by my developer. This position will also not create the logo/branding, although I am open to making this a full-time position for the right candidate who can do both.
  • Priority given to someone who is passionate about food & design! Our clients are mainly food bloggers, so having a base understanding of cooking and baking is helpful to better understand their needs.
